klimaaktiv

klimaaktiv is the climate protection initiative of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Water Management and Environment. It makes the quality of buildings measurable and comparable. Numerous climate protection initiatives and activities take place under klimaaktiv, which can be categorised under the four core topics of construction & renovation, renewable energy, energy saving and mobility. 
The klimaaktiv building standard was developed in the area of construction and renovation, which is available for both residential and service buildings. This is one of the most successful quality seals for sustainable construction and refurbishment in Europe. 
The klimaaktiv criteria catalogue summarises all the criteria of the building standard. This makes the quality of a building measurable and transparent.
A total of 1,000 klimaaktiv quality points can be achieved. For the basic klimaaktiv Bronze level, at least the klimaaktiv basic criteria (= mandatory criteria) must be fulfilled.


The four stages of the building declaration:
1) Declaration in the planning stage: Qualitative assessment of the design with detailed consideration of the individual components and trades through to suggestions for improvement and variant considerations  klimaaktiv certificate
2) Planning declaration with refurbishment roadmap: Concerns buildings constructed before 1 January 2022, the refurbishment projects must be completed by 21 December 2035 at the latest. Essentially follows the procedure for declaration planning. For buildings completed more than 5 years ago, the requirements of the klimaaktiv building standard for refurbishment apply.
3) Declaration during completion: All information was uploaded to the online platform. After plausibility check  klimaaktiv certificate and klimaaktiv sticker
4) Declaration in use: Assessment of the energy quality of the building based on the actual energy consumption, the actual performance. Prerequisite: Building must already be declared klimaaktiv in the completion phase.
Any person or company can register free of charge on the declaration platform (demo forms for submission (baudock.at)) and carry out a building assessment in accordance with klimaaktiv.
