EU Construction Products Regulation (CPR)

This regulation contains harmonised legislation for placing construction products on the market in the EU. The current harmonised regulations aim to measure the performance of construction products in terms of their essential characteristics, such as fire behaviour, thermal conductivity or sound insulation.
The current legal framework also includes harmonised rules for the CE marking of these products. This ensures that reliable information is available to professionals, authorities and consumers so that they can compare the performance of products from different manufacturers in different countries. Member States are responsible for setting the safety, environmental and energy requirements for building construction and civil engineering.
Affected products, market participants and requirements for essential product performance such as stability, fire resistance, hygiene, etc. will be largely expanded.

Objectives:

Removal of barriers to technical trade with construction products Ensuring the free commercialisation of construction products on the internal market

Those directly affected are:

Manufacturers of construction products

Importers of construction products
